There will be three Q & A’s prior to the Annual Budget Meeting and Budget Validation Referendum for citizens to ask questions about the budget.
Q&A’s on the FY27 Budget 6:00-6:30 p.m.
April 8th: Durham Community School - Cafe
April 29th: Pownal Elementary School - Cafe
May 6th: Freeport High School - Library
As many of you may know, the State of Maine has directed all school districts to assume responsibility for identifying and providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to children ages 3–5 with disabilities. This responsibility, previously held by Child Development Services (CDS), must be fully in place no later than July 1, 2028. While that date may seem far off, the change is significant and may ultimately affect how we use our facilities, allocate financial resources, hire and deploy staff, and plan for the long-term configuration of our district.
