Freeport Middle School provides an excellent education for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students of Freeport and Pownal. We average about ninety students in each grade level, with one team of 6 teachers at each grade. This allows us to have class sizes under 20 students per class.
We aim to address the unique academic, physical, social, and emotional needs of students who are in a special and critical period of their lives as they change from childhood to adolescence. The staff of Freeport Middle School is committed to creating and maintaining an orderly, trusting, and caring environment where teaching and learning are exciting and students are assisted as they develop responsibility. All aspects of the school's organization, curricular and co-curricular activities are child centered and designed to accommodate individual learning styles so that all may experience success.
The 6th grade level goes to Kieve in the fall to work on team building and individual leadership skills. We also have Fab Friday three times a year where students have the opportunity to do a variety of activities based on their interests. This year some of the activities were: gem stoning, rocket making, ropes course, community service, biking and many more. Some of our sixth grade students can go to Space Camp in Alabama and our 8th grade Travel Club goes to Quebec City for a weekend. We have a ropes course on site which we use to work on leadership and team building skills.
Freeport Middle School is a special place for students to learn and prepare themselves for high school and life.
