Freeport Middle School offers a variety of sports for 7th and 8th grade students in the fall, winter and spring. We encourage all students to participate and become part of the teams. Most teams have space for all 7th and 8th grade students who wish to play, in rare cases when we have too many tryout, we will have to select only a given number for that team.
If we don't have enough players for a team, we invite 6th graders to particpate. In the past we have invited 6th graders for cross country, cheering, field hockey, and both ski teams (but not guaranteed in the future) and sometimes for basketball (on the third team) and lacrosse. We rarely need 6th graders for soccer, football, baseball, indoor track and softball. We don't know this in advance, as we have to wait to see how many students show up for tryouts to determine if we are able to invite a limited number of 6th graders to join. 6th graders should not count on playing a school sport, but we encourage them to sign up for town or club sports programs.
